More Than Just Junk: The Philosophy Behind MD Junk Pros
Junk removal is one of those services people rarely need at a convenient time.
A couch has to disappear before the new one arrives. An estate needs to be cleared so a property can be listed. A garage has reached the point where nobody can pretend the pile will handle itself.
When that moment comes, most people are not looking for a complicated sales process. They want someone to answer the phone, give them a straightforward quote, and show up when promised.
Chris Sikorski built MD Junk Pros around that simple idea.
“My core tenet for this thing is that I answer the phone,” he said. “You call me, the phone is getting answered.”
After getting to know Chris, it’s obvious that MD Junk Pros is actually built on far more.

The Business He Could Start Tomorrow
Chris had originally joined the military at age 18. After his enlistment, he bounced between a few jobs, including bartending, before finding his way into industrial equipment sales.
This became a career where he found much success. He was paid well for his efforts and eventually became a regional sales manager. Yet the better things went, the clearer it became that money was not the missing piece.
“I still was missing something,” he said. “It wasn’t money. It was owning that process.”
Chris wanted control over the direction of his work and, eventually, more freedom for his family. With a one-year-old daughter, and by now another child on the way, waiting for the perfect business idea no longer made much sense.
“It was now or never,” he said.
Junk removal caught his attention for a practical reason. It was a business he could begin immediately. He already had a truck, a trailer was within reach, and it didn’t require any barrier to entry before helping his first customer.
That mattered to Chris. He knows how easily an idea can lose momentum when every first step depends on yet another first step.
“What is something that I can start right now?” he remembered asking himself. If he couldn’t make progress that day, he knew there was a good chance he would never begin.
So, earlier this year, while still working a full-time job, that’s exactly what he did.
While his brother, Wayne Sikorski has now taken on much of the day-to-day fieldwork, Chris handles calls, estimates, marketing, commercial outreach, and the constant work of building a new company.
Finding His First Customers
There was no big launch campaign waiting for MD Junk Pros.
Chris found his earliest customers by going onto Facebook Marketplace and messaging people who were offering furniture for free. If nobody wanted their items, he let them know there was a local junk removal company who could handle it for them.
Then he built a list of real estate agents across Maryland and started cold calling them. For an hour each day, he introduced the company and asked whether they ever needed help preparing listings or clearing estates.
This approach was repetitive and unglamorous, but very effective. Chris said realtor relationships account for a meaningful share of the company’s business, including larger estate cleanouts and repeat referrals.

Turning an Unwanted Chore Into an Easy Experience
Fast forward to merely months later and MD Junk Pros has already made a name for itself. With well over 200 five-star Google reviews, they’re often one of the first junk removal companies you see recommended on Google for their service area.
They make light work of the jobs most homeowners and businesses would rather not wrestle with themselves: furniture and appliance removal, garage and basement cleanouts, estate and office cleanouts, yard waste, construction debris, and light demolition involving sheds, decks, hot tubs, and similar structures.
Most standard removal jobs are priced according to the amount of trailer space the material will use and the cost of disposal. While larger cleanouts and demolition projects may require an in-person estimate, customers can often send photos of smaller jobs for a rough estimate or a price range not to be exceeded.
Small residential pickups can frequently be handled the same day or the next day, depending on availability.
One Person’s Junk is Another Person’s Treasure
For MD Junk Pros, removing something from your home doesn’t necessarily mean taking it to the dump.
Chris tries to donate furniture and other lightly used household items whenever possible. Through trial and error, he’s found that smaller local organizations can sometimes be a better fit, because smaller organizations often have more immediate use for those items than larger nonprofits.
One organization Chris specifically mentioned is HOPE For All, a Glen Burnie nonprofit that provides furniture, housewares, and clothing to Anne Arundel County residents who need help creating a stable home.
Donation stops add work to an already busy route. They require sorting, transportation, and coordination that would not be necessary if everything went directly to a disposal facility. Chris acknowledged that the company cannot save every usable item, but the goal is to donate everything it reasonably can.
“We are this community, and this community is us,” Chris said. “Giving back to it just makes sense.”

Moving Forward
I asked Chris where he sees his company’s future as he continues to grow. His response was ambitious, but refreshingly simple.
Although the majority of MD Junk Pros’ daily work comes from homeowners, he sees commercial service as a much larger portion of his business within the near future. He is also considering other verticals such as mold remediation.
With all that considered, and a few more trucks on the road, Chris thinks he could scale his gross revenue to a million dollars over the next few years. He’s clear, though, that he doesn’t want growth that strips away the personality customers responded to in the first place.
“I’m your neighbor. I’m your guy,” he said. “I live here. I work here. My kids are here. My whole family is here.”
